One has to wonder given the current world economic climate and the recent announcement from the incoming Trump administration in the US that they will now impose a 15 to 20 % tariff on everything imported into their country and a whopping 60 % tariff on all Chinese imports , to protect their country and begin a rebuild .
This just makes me wonder and question why , back in July that the Australian treasurer Jim Chalmers announced in the media , the end to over 500 current Australian import tariffs.
Why would the Australian government have made this decision?
Tariffs generally provide our manufacture’s with a bit of trade and economic protection from cheep imports and also protect jobs amongst other things .
I wonder
How does the removal of them help Australia ?
With that decision one would have to think that it would actually make our countries deficit much larger than it is .
The move doesn’t seem make any sense, well not to me ,
What do you think ?
Cheers
