Hello everyone ,

While cleaning up the house still ,
I sorted out a box of pictures and stuff just now and i found a small package belonging to Ben’s childhood .

There were birthday photos ,
school camp pictures , and some of his treasure from The Melbourne football club and their leader and Captain
Garry Lyon

I carefully pulled apart the pile and to my delight there were five football cards of Garry in there and Adem Yze  also got a card in amongst the  mix ,
and theres the pic of the Wiz standing tall up on Garry’s head just showing  his talents off ,
made for some great memories thats for sure .

Its a wonder he didn’t handball  it to Garry ,
from the line ,when he eventually landed 

For me last season was just  a joke
We were absolutely terrible and even with a star line up ,
we just couldn’t win important matches and we always seemed to crumble under pressure.

I agree entirely with the sacking of the coach , one that orders the players to loose the game, the buck stops with him and bringing the game into disrupt.
He should have to pay the million dollars that he demanded from the club to sack him .
Back with a sorry note .

Enough said

I thought this year and anew  coach would bring anew attitude .
The club offered me a special sort of new membership and it is a fantastic deal
Ten home game tickets for the season that may also be shared with my friends for free entry at the gate
Sitting on the wing In the members for just a
$ 100

Bargain

so i agreed 

I think that
The  new members parcel has just arrived at the post office at Dalyston , so ill pick it up shortly
It might be a drum head instead.

The game last week against Freo  i thought here we go again we are not even on the park
Thats just
Not good enough

I wished that i hadn’t brought the memebership at all
Here we go at a-team of absolute champions that my mum could beat ?

Fast forward a week

Im away ,
sucking in av gas and rubber fumes at the National drags at the Bend in SA

When i get a message from Ben about Melbourne playing well and going to win the game.

I opened Kayo and looked at the game for a second and we were twenty something points down and i thought Bens an absolute idiot ,
and my mind went straight back to the exciting racing and i turned it off
And then i thought absolutely nothing more of it .

Last night Ben rang me and he told me that the Dees actually won the game against Carlton
I said bullshit they were getting killed when i looked
He laughed and he said they had all the momentum Dad they ran over the top of them

I couldn’t believe it
He told me to watch the some sort of twenty minute game replay on Kayo

So I did

I saw something in the boys that just didn’t exist last season
Well more than one thing

That is the spirit  that all Melbourne football games should be played in .

That is the makings of a championship team .
And I thought of the past , I thought of all of-the players that I regularly spoke to,
I would always encourage them to do their best even if they were smashed and in the ice bath and the game was long finished.

But most of all I remember their courageous Captain Garry Lyon
Hos Leadership style is incredible
His presence around the club was absolutely enormous.
I thought at the time to myself ,
if I could be a tenth of the man he is ,
That ,id be laughing.

But that was a lifetime ago
There has been a lot of water under everybody’s bridge since then  
But i have an idea that could help out the boys out a bit and i thought ,
and i know that you are very busy  Gaz 
That you could sometimes call in to training ,
Stir up the coach and the boys
Lay a few new new plans
And just show your face again at the club

Because in my idiotic way then i thought we could catch up at the footy and watch our boys just shine for a change

And we stay for dinner
And presentations
Bit like in yesteryear mate

Ps
I have all season
So maybe book just one day off. 

Im flexible
