So this is what the sludge that builds up over years in your rainwater tank , looks like ,
It’s from rotting organic matter like leaves and sticks .
And the reason why some people filter their tank water.
I helped a friend remove one the other day that’s pictured and it was quite full of sludge , but instead of dumping it off at the local tip I’m going to recycle 
it and cut off the rusty lid section with a nine inch angle grinder.
Then I can use it for multiple things like a new dog kennel for Rex , or maybe a firewood dry storage unit or even turn it into a raised garden bed .
But it’s good to recycle ever that we can and do our bit for the planet , no matter how small it all helps and adds up to a more sustainable earth.
