Father and son

Update

Hi everyone well there have been a few developments with Dad since mums recent 80th birthday , and I can’t say that things are all that positive as he hasn’t been listening to anything that mum says to him.

I have had a few chats to him about the situation that he is in but I don’t think that he thinks that I’m serious and that what I tell him will happen but with his behaviour it’s eventually inevitable.

For example he went down the block a few days ago and he wanted to mow the lawn with the ride on even though he can’t really see , and he found that it had the handbrake on and he couldn’t figure out how to release it .

So believe it or not after I told  you all of him not being able to walk 60 metres a few weeks ago , he decided in his wisdom to walk home on the road which is a main hwy with heaps of traffic , and with him having to cross the hwy outside the block to walk on the correct side of the road.

How ridiculous is that , but I will say that he has no mobile phone or any way to call mum , but she was organised to pick him up a little later .

I then measured the distance with the Ute that afternoon as I headed down to the block to mow the lawn for him and it’s just over 1 km in total.

I could just imagine what drivers thought at seeing dad shuffling down the road probably taking rests on the posts .

I also thought either he is getting cunning as I couldn’t find the key for the mower and apparently it was found in his pocket at home , so I’ll mow it tmow.

So Mum and Dad just left my place and I tried to explain the situation to him again , that if he keeps on the path he is on now that he will be not in respite at Rose Lodge next time but he will find himself there permanently.

I still think that he thinks we are all kidding but I guess he will eventually find out that we are all serious.

So after all that to finish on a funny note , dad told me that last time he was there that in the middle of the night , a nurse came in and woke him up and wanted to put an adult nappie on him lol

He flatly refused at this stage but maybe one day they will be compulsory I told him that they can be his party pants and draw a balloon on the front.

I also said that getting old sux .

Cheers
