Hello everyone ,
well dad has been in full time care for a few weeks now at Rose Lodge .

I went to visit him the other  night and he was actually looking quite well and we sat down in his room to chat,
The first thing I noticed is that he has now got a little bar fridge in the corner of the room ,
Apparently mum brought him one but they have now changed the rules there recently and you now have to hire one off the management there instead,

I said you have a fridge dad,
He said its no bloody good ,
i said isn’t it cold as l opened the door to check in the coldness,
It was freezing cold 

 but dad said its too noisy and it runs nearly all the time,
i said throw a small blanket over it and that will quiet it down,

The crazy part is that he is deaf as s post so the fridge runs fairly quiet so I don’t actually see it as a problem ,
but I suggested that he ask the maintenance man to change it for a different brand an see how you go.

Next thing was nis hearing aids ,
dad recently upgraded his hearing aids away from , battery replacement models to  the type that charge in a dock ,
He complained that when the nurses eventually put them in to his ears they are no good and they are flat,
I explained that you have to charge them every single night as if they are left off the charger for 16 hours then they will be flat.

Next funny thing is I asked him how comfortable the bed was?
He said its really good but its all wired up to the office so if he gets out of bed in the middle of the night they are notified in the nurses station.
He then explained to me that he had worked out a method of escape snd if he wigged this way and lifted his knees he could get up pretty much undetected,
Lmao

Next Curly the fruiterer his window sill shop front was notably empty ,
he must be eating the fruit 

 then so I asked him about the food he was getting there if there was enough?
He is used to  eating good home cooked meals for 65 years ,
and he had not much to say any good about the food ,
but he was sick if it and  now he sends half of it back at meal times as he doesn’t like it at all,
That explains  no fruit as he is eating it all.

He doesn’t like living there at all and  ,
he wishes he was home again .

I try and explain nicely to him that ,
that is just not going to happen.
As he now permanently lives there .
So it was time to say goodbye

And as I left the building I wondered if this is my destiny in the future ,
As I look at other residents living there but I thought by then ,
there will be much more  liberal euthanasia laws in place ,
giving people the right to end their lives in a more dignified manner in much larger numbers the future.

This will ease the massive demand for aged care facilities in the future as lots of people will choose just to simply peg out .

Oh well back to my reality
