Hi everyone ,
Ben and I managed to crawl out of bed early this morning to take Tiger Ben  out for a fish to our favourite place offshore .
The first clip is just us tied up at the jetty.
The second one is the hole shot with the boat going under the bridge this time to a different tune ,
I wanted to play Eye of the Tiger , but Ben doesnt like that song , so then it was up to Spotify to choose a song  for us ,
it was prety smooth going so far so we set a fairly cracking pace.

It was a bit gnarlier when we had covered a few miles  and got out the front and out in amoungst it ,
but we hit the first of my gps marks and in no time we knew there were no fish there .

On the next move and  I’m sorry  I didnt film it earlier but  we had a pod of dolphins swimming and jumping with us at speed , but when we stopped they only stayed for a few seconds,
so we got straight into the fishing, we started off ok and then we began to land a few , and a lone molly hawk joined us right beside the boat it was looking for  an easy breakfast.
Soon it was joined by a mate both were floating on Bens side of the boat .
Ben caught a fish and when it neared the surface , the molly hawk must have thought., Hmm,
Breakfast
and it grabbed the fish so tight in its mouth and it was determined  to eat it , hooks and all , and then the wressle was on .

By the time I turned the camera on the bird had let go and the fish and rig flew into boat fast at head height,
I threw back the dammaged  overboard  and then the molly hawk grabbed it and took off to eat it , its mate chased it in hot persuit and then they had a short fight with it and the mate pinched the fish and took off and basicly just swallowed it whole.

So from then on I scared the birds away every time Ben caught a fish .
We did a few drifts in that location and got a good feed of flathead and a few school whiting or sand whiting as some people call them .

I still can seen to get my depthsounder working  , its fairly  frustrating , but im trying to talk Ben into reading the book , but its not all about that , sometimes  it fails to even give a basic digital readout of the depth , I dont know im nearly over it .

Then we were in for a fairly rough homewards trip until we were right  near the Cape Woolami  entrance ,
there were all of a sudden birds working around the area in patches and diving in the water and then another boat appeared they were trawling ,
Ben grabbed our two heaviest rods and threw a lure on each for a trawl for half an hour, but to know avail.

So we then decided  to pack that up  and head up the bay under the bridge towards Bass River for a whiting fish , there was definitely not much happening there and the wind suddenly got up strongly , and the chop stood up , so it was hometime and a run to the Newhaven jetty, we were  punching hard into a stiff breeze to the ramp.

I have got one of those catch systems on the trailer that catches the boat automatically about a cm before its tight in the front stopper V block .
It also when set it does also release  , making it possible  for me to take Tiger Ben out on my own . And launch and retrieve  with no help.

Once I drive the boat up and the catch grabs , i can safely get out of the boat and jump in the car and tow myself out.
I dont really trust the catch so I always connect the hook and winch the boat the rest of the way on and clip on the safety catch .

I like to wind my boat on prety tight and  I did so today only to have the cable break away from the hook as the pressure that I put on the cable was iI guess a bit too much .
Hmm
Then while still on the ramp ,
as no one was actually  waiting to use it ,
Then out comes the bush mechanics and I loosened the cable off the winch  and I reall struggled to tie a knot in the stiff cable , it still had a small clamp on the wire thats called a gripple on it , which helped me to lock the knot ,
so I winched the boat on and set the catch on to catch mode , and I clipped on the safety catch and then happily towed her home,

Just a cumpolsury stop at the Newhaven  pie shop, there must be something  wrong with me as one of the things I ate was a salad roll.

We have cleaned the fish washed the rods , I just have to wash over the boat and we are done for the day ,

Another  successful , fun , enjoyable  and interesting  day on the water .
Ben is always  great to go fishing with but I think he is somtimes a bit like me and we  both have somthing missing ,
That would be his brother Dylan out there  fishing with us .

Im sure one day it will happen  again , but I do hope thats soon.

Cheers xxx
