Hello everyone ,
Im going to have a bit of a sook up about a situation in Australia that i believe must affect every single consumer in the country.
This time the story starts long ago when I first became a single man .
I had to then start doing housework for myself ,
Bugger
So obviously I needed a vacuum cleaner.
I had a few second hand ones given to me that eventually died of old age or they were just simply worn out ,
I think one was even a good old
Godfreys Electrolux lol .
So eventually the day came to replace the old ones so I went off to
big W in Wonthaggi to purchase a new vacuum cleaning machine .
They had quite a large selection to choose from all these fancy attachments that come with a modern machine.
I then Pay my money at the counter ,
screw up and pocket the receipt to never be seen again,
I am a male lol
Now I’m not really that keen on housework and to be honest I don’t Vacuum very often so my machines are always basically brand spanking new.
They only seem to all last about for about three to ten uses before blowing up .
Bugger back for another one.
This happened about 4 times over a few years .
They were all still under warranty at the time but as I’m a bloke there is no receipt as proof of purchase for a cash buyer
They all just went into the bin and I got angrier and angrier at the situation of the shops selling me heaps of shit products ,
That are not built up to even a minimum standard of engineering quality.
The Godfreys one my mum brought us lasted probably for at least thirty years of her thrashing the hell out of it sucking up the dirt in our house daily.
How come in our modern so called fantastic world we gave gone completely backwards with our quality of goods that they are all just engineered to last for maybe the warranty period only,
Then most goods go into landfill
Brilliant
So this problem has cost me probably a new vacuum cleaner at least every year for ten years.
Thats a lot of landfill.
So before Christmas my latest vacuum cleaner also newish ,
died and it joined the rest of my old ones at the Wonthaggi Transfer Station.
I was shopping in Aldi Wonthaggi the other day and in their special buys isle there was a stick vacuum that had enough attachments i thought to do the house.
There was actually only a few left,
and It was what I thought was a reputable brand and it was a Sharp.
I thought that would be more suitable for me than a conventional vacuum, and be convenient and easy.
At the checkout ,
I lined up at the operator checkout as I payed cash for the item and I actually said to the lady that this time i actually want the receipt as with the luck that I have with them I probably will need it for a refund.
We both laughed
But this problem its not really a joke,
It’s the way it is.
I took it home and like any new prize I ripped open the packaging and popped it straight on the charger.
The story goes like this.
I vacuumed the rug in the lounge ,
I then quickly went over the floors
It may have run for Fifteen minutes tops .
I liked it a lot as it did a great job .
I wanted to use it again a few hours later just to suck a bit of dust off some smooth concrete so I could paint it .
Full battery indicator and pull the trigger into second hi stage and hey what
No suction ,
A motor that runs now when i lift the stick up off the floor and it dies out badly when i put it to the floor?
Check it for blockages and try again
Same shit .
I was so angry at another heap of crap that I have purchased but this thing takes the cake ,
It did not even last one hour.
These type of unreliable goods should be all banned from being imported into Australia
We need goods that last and are serviceable.
And more environmental friendly and responsible.
So i had an argument on the phone with Ben about shit Australian goods being sold here that are just landfill in disguise and in their modern engineering.
And as for a refund,
I could not for the life of me find the receipt and I felt it must have accidentally been disposed of along with the packaging .
I thought about throwing it in the bin and save the argument.
We have now gone so far backwards in life on this earth in the last 57 years in manufacturing.
I have watched and noticed since the age of five that we were heading in the wrong direction.
So Ben said I may not actually even get a refund as it’s not covered in their policy for cash refunds especially with no receipt. Dad .
I was not very happy but I bundled all the bits and pieces together and I went down to Aldi.
I tested it out again in the carpark as all electronics at the moment for me don’t work anywhere around me .
So I took myself a video of the vacuum fault as evidence in case it actually decided that it worked properly again at the register in the shop
You would not believe in a million years what happened next .
I lined up at the register and I plonked the vacuum cleaner bits down on the conveyer belt.
I then looked up at the lady standing right in front of me and unbelievably she was about to purchase the same machine that I was returning.
It was on the conveyer belt.
Oops
It was like a Mexican stand off ,
She asked me what was happening with mine.
So I told her the truth that it a heap of shit that did not last an hour and I want my money back.
She then procrastinated her purchase ,
and not to be unfair
I said just buy yours ,
and if it stuffs up you will. have warranty.
I got distracted by my phone and then it was my turn .
The girls were so lovey and understanding,
The lady on the register actually told me the machine the day before and remembered me .
The manager joined us and then went to the office and organised a full cash refund for me.
I noticed the box containing the same vacuum was behind the register so the lady decided to not to buy it herself.
We need more of that .
We have to stop buying inferior and just cheep imported crap in Australia
And buy our stuff instead .
The cashier also told me that all of the stick vacuums on the market are sub standard especially with their battery life ,
and apparently a Dyson is the best choice but they die eventually also.
I said in the modern world how is this possible?
The batteries that they use on the space shuttle would run a vacuum for probably a year.
Well i guess its the same for EV’s
They can also die brand new .
So does nearly everything that I buy new .
And im so over it .
So is the Environment.
So I’m off now to buy myself a new Dyson and see if that works,
Hmm its that clean in the house from yesterday ls efforts that I better throw some dirt around inside just to try out the new machine,
And mr Dyson got something right as he makes a range of stick vacuums that are built especially for bachelors like me .
They make a V8 model.
That has definitely got me as theres nothing like thundering V8 power.
If my theory is correct,
My house will be spotless as I will take the V8 for a spin around my slippery clean floors nearly every day .
I wont be able to help myself.
So at the end of the day Austrian consumers need to say no more of this cheep crappy goods at my house.
Because if you don’t buy it they wont make it.
And it wont go unto our landfills any more .
So it’s time for manufacture’s around the world to raise the bar instead of lowering it .
Consumers deserve better products fro you guys and you need to all become in time more environmentally friendly, aware and responsible for your products.
Ps i have my washing on
I hope the washing machine doesn’t break as I have enough stuff to do without more warranty claims.
Happy new year everyone
Cheers xxx
