Hmm I believe that was not the case as China was smacking us with bans on our exports of so many things at once like beef , crayfish , recycled plastics included, they left our rubbish with us to deal with ourselves so our answer instead of recycling the plastic into products was to bury our heads in the sand and send it straight to landfill once our storage areas were at capacity most of the rest up until now goes to the tip,
I’m my mind I can see Australia becoming a world leader in recycling technology and turn the plastic into all size timber products for the Australian building market and for overseas exports,I have written an in-depth article on my proposal a few years back but sadly nothing here has changed with the situation,
Maybe now is the right time for the government to invest in that new green industry and put the factories to manufacture those products in those communities where Dan has just decided to shut down the logging of old growth forests and keep those towns and communities alive , and create real sustainable jobs and a much cleaner environment, the best part is we would no longer need to cut down many trees for anything much but toilet paper out of plantation timber and all that waste landfill plastic would be put to good use for the healthy future of the planet.
