For some reason everyone,
I thought that the whole idea of a referendum was that the sitting government put forward an idea for us the people to consider and give a yes no vote on the proposal as we see fit accordingly,
The last referendum that I remember was nothing like this ,
It’s now like a glorified massive election campaign, with big business and sporting clubs and associations throwing their support and millions of dollars into the yes campaign, the whole thing seems to have divided the nation completely on what exactly to decide , as Anthony Albanese hasn’t done his cause any favours , mostly by failing to thoroughly explaining the proposal to us the voters , so we all understand just exactly what we are expected to vote on .
I think most people are sick of all the hype already , and there’s months of this to go ,
By rights if Anthony is that passionate about this issue he can just legislate a first peoples council through the senate quite easily , without needing this referendum do it and if it happens to loose and the No vote is successful, I would expect that he should do just that and form the voice panel as he sees it as such an important issue to have that advisory board to deal with First Nations issues with their direct voice to parliament , so it will be interesting , we will see just how important it actually is to our Prime Minister
