Hello everyone I am now staying a little bit longer at Dandenong hospital.
I have just had a visit by one of the specialist plastic surgeon’s this morning to chat about my hand and the repair job that they are doing for me.
I guess that the bad news is that the wound requires a second visit and I now have another operation scheduled for tomorrow.
So I guess that , thats how the cookie crumbles and even with that bad news I’m in good spirits,
The funny thing is now I know the exact cause of my infection,
My son Ben last night was talking to his neighbour about my case and she stated that most of the people needing the same type of surgery, were pricked whilst gardening by a rose bush.
The penny dropped instantly,as on last Tuesday I was doing my respite clients gardening , I pruned about 15 big thorny rose bushes all without gloves on,
when I got up to the last one the lady came out to see me and I guess I took my mind off the job for one second and I got pricked once quite hard on my finger and I instantly pulled out the thorn but the tip of it must have broken on entry , and it stayed deep inside my hand , infection started and my fate was sealed.
Ben recons that I have to wear gardening gloves from now on , the funny thing is that I need Maroi gloves as normal ones wont fit my fingers properly and I cant bend them.
I think I have one set left at home from my time spent dogging crane loads , I’ll have to take a look when I get home .
So its be patient and wait and see
Cheers xxx
