Hello everyone now I want to talk to you about the Wonthaggi, desalination plant.

Back in 2007 under a labour government Steve Bracks was then the Labour leader.

His government decided to build a desalination plant in Victoria to provide water to the city in times of

Drought.

Williamsons Beach in Wonthaggi was the chosen site of the horror of many local residents that  protested long and hard against the proposal. Eventually the project got the green light from Vcat I believe and then the build went ahead. Its original cost was quoted at  $2.9 billion dollar estimate that Aquashure the company had won the contract to build and finance supply and deliver desalinated water connected Victorian reservoir for a period of thirty years .

During construction the cost began to blowout like every government job . and the estimate was given at  $3.1 billion then later on 3 .5 billion and then at the end on their costing came to this absurd amount as a total of $4 billion that’s at a cost of 900,000 million dollars extra that this blew out on estimates. If It wasn’t the government it would have gone broke.

There was a bonus for one thank you Wonthaggi and district $12 million to be spent on access roads and intersections for the plant. They did a beautiful access industrial strength road from the Mouth  of Powlett Park all the way to the desall .

For some reason the gate to that road remains closed. It should be an open as it’s a public road and we paid for it .

It’s ridiculous for the residents of the Powlett that it’s padlocked shut the amount of travell it will save them if it’s opened will be a godsend.

Now to the connections connected up to it Melbourne water ,Almerta  reservoir  Candowie. Reservoir and a few branches here and there.

Wonthaggi actually did not need the connection at all, they hooked it up because Aquasure needed the water from Wonthaggi to be able to build the plant.

The only real customer the benefits from it is Westernport water with connection for Philip Island the rest we don’t need it. We hardly use the plant as It lay their idle for a couple of years until they decided they better order some water so they did.

It had major problems with everything on start up as all the seals are dried out were going hard and cracking It was a disaster. It needed major repairs I think lasting months before turning the key on on it for the first time .

Over the years they have run it on and off. I got so shitty  a couple years ago as we had the worst coldest wettest winter ever.

I have to tell you that I was looking through the statements by Aquasure and the government on the desalination plant and the detail on the Internet and it’s actually not quite true. What the statement I read meant was that us as consumers , will not ever pay for water we don’t use or need.

That’s fair enough.

You would think but I’ll take you back two or 3 winters ago and let you think about this.

The diesel starts to fall apart when it’s not running I know plenty of people work out there on the maintenance crew or if not just out of interest. My mates generally tell me what’s happening but the other year was that wet in winter. It rained that much  that Dan Andrews in his wisdom and his decision as our state leader , he ordered  behind our backs a massive amount of water when our dams and our tanks and a reservoirs were already full.

He wrote a check out to Aquashore , for mega dollars that we paid for and you’re gonna think I’m full of shit when I tell you what happened to the water.

They pumped it all alright in a U shape straight back into Williams’s beach ocean.

That’s right take the salt water out of the ocean and put it back in as fresh with heaps of waste and filters to clean. How smart is that but how dare Dan Andrews waste our money like that but he thought he didn’t have to answer anything he still thinks that.

Does Dictator Dan owe us all Victorian’s a refund?

I think the plant has run when needed only once since 2012. What a waste but the funny bit is deep down in my mind. I think that they built us that plant to use for something else that we’re gonna harvest out of seawater.

I have a dream that factory and plant can be used to our avantage as I’ve seen the pipes that they laid for this project. They actually pretty big and they hold in them a lot of cubic metres of gas .

So reverse osmosis , briefly osmosis is a passing of something fluid  though a semipermeable membrane this theory works is like a nicotine patch on your skin it’s that simple. I’m not quite sure what double reverse osmosis is. It sounds technical but I think it works as part of the process of turning that old rundown desall plant into a modern Hydrogen. production plant ,

the pipes are already there to take it all the way to the city.

Those pipes have been x-ray welded to gas specs even though it was for water I saw them doing it.

That will just be a bit of a task for our scientific team something to work on to find us the answers

eventually and things will be different for another energy sector as we take control of our energy output in production countrywide. Along with the fuel in Berry Beach refinery it’s all gonna happen Australia once again show the world how we can lead the way.

Everything belongs to us the people not a go that doesn’t care , it’s ours for the taking .

I think we’re going into a new era of a brave New World where nothing is really certain but nothing really is anyway. The only things are really certain are taxes  and death you can’t even afford either and apparently now Victoria tax you when you die and they call it probate  we will  be getting rid of all that crap.

We will just live a nice life in Australia because we can with our spirit just shining everywhere.

Once again we have to have more pride in our country.

I Hope you’re able to stand there and say I’m so proud of Australian. I love my country. This is the best country in the world. Well that’s up to us.

Cheers.xxx
