Hello everyone, well I must be making a new hobby, as I once again went out to a pub last night to watch a band for the second or third time in a month. I haven’t been to watch bands for years or not like that often anyway.
A lot of things have changed including the demographics of the average age of the patrons and the people there to listen to the music.
As we are all getting old .
Of course the music is old school , that’s why this age demographic listen to it and support it.
It’s getting a bit more expensive now to go to these good shows compared to years ago when I used to nearly always get in for nothing.
But tonight show was to be in San Remo at the Westernport Hotel down near my favourite wharves yesterday on my phone popped up an ad for Mark Seymour who was going to be playing at 9 o’clock at the Westernport hotel I think my memory tickets were $61.50 each online and me not being that good in history with purchases over the phone and my credit card and I’ve been scammed, I think it’s three or four times I’ve been fleeced now. So I’m never keen to put my banking details on some random website so I thought I’ll go and just buy a ticket at the door and I thought when I looked at the song play list for the night I remembered nearly every one of these songs that maybe I should certainly go.
I stopped in at a friends on the way after a phone call. I thought I’ll pick her up and I’ll take her out to that show but she wasn’t ready to go and she Wes trying to make me stay at her place for dinner , I said there’s no way I’m missing that show so I drove off towards San Remo. Rexie boy was in the car so it was going to be his job to take care and guard the car for the night.
When I got to the Westernport it was right on 9 o’clock. There was a large crowd gathered out front with a large lineup at the entrance door
Thats Something I haven’t seen for years in front of the Pub.
I waited in the line. I made it to the first door to I asked the bouncer about a cash ticket on and he said. I have to go to the other door at the venue entrance and I can buy myself one there so I went up to that door I walked right passed the lineup and spoke to a door person about paying cash for a ticket, he said sure but you have to line up at the back of the queue first I thought bugger so I went back to the end of the line to wait my turn.
All of a sudden, some young bloke comes up to me and says I’m sorry you’re the guy that wants to pay cash for a ticket , you can’t come in. It’s full, I said what? He said you can’t come in. I said bullshit. What if I buy a ticket right now on the Internet and get it then can I come in?
He looks at me strangely he said that’ll be sold out on the Internet too.
I said they can’t be an hour ago. They said they only sold 50 tickets.
I said bugger. I wish Nick still owned it. The young bloke looked at me and said he does I said he works somewhere else he goes no do you want to see him? He’s just over there. I’ll get him so Nick came over. I’ve known for a lot years. Going to that Pub on and off for bands on Sunday slippers with Blackie, i’ve got friendly with Nick. I used to talk to him about business as i worked in the same industry at Killy pub.
Black’s used to get banned on and off from the Westie and his dog Roli spend more time at the Pub than him.
So Nick made sure I got straight in , it’s pretty crowded inside but not like it used to be when I was young when it was shoulder shoulder at least now you could walk reasonably comfortably through the crowd carefully with your drink with this many people but it was still a huge number.
I grabbed a drink.
Being careful to count them as i’m not drinking and driving because that will be foolish.
Then a young lady came out to do a few warmup songs. She had a beautiful voice playing acoustic guitar and she was lovely, so I took a film with her and I put that footage up on Facebook. I didn’t know that many people there in the audience which was pretty unusual because back in the day I knew everyone , I tried to muck around with my phone and find the button where you can press live video feed, but I couldn’t find it which is a shame because some of the songs I wanted to record by the time I pushed record I had missed the start.
So Mark Seymour and his band came out. And the crowd. Cheered loudly. The first song was like the rest and absolute ripper I filmed on Off during the night and then there was a big surprise and Vicka and Linda Bull , famous from Joe Joe Zepp and the Falcons they came on stage and did a number with Mark On on stage before the end of the first set.
I went straight out to the car to check on Rexxie boy let him out for a pee and grab his bowl and give him a drink of water, he’s happy in the car he loves it. I don’t know why but he’s stay in it forever if he could.
So then I was back to Pub for the second and last set and just before the end of the first set I was up near the stage taking film. I thought I’ll leave to head to Rex and as I got to the other end of the Pub my favourite song came on so throw your arms around me but I was too far away to film it, I guess you can’t win them all.
On a different note on when I got my first drink at the bar a really nice looking young lady started to chat to me at the bar and her first line was are you on Tinder?
I looked at her and I said are you ? then I quickly said actually I like to go on grinder but it always hurts my bum for a week afterwards .
I don’t think she saw the humorous side of my quick joke.
But honestly, there was women there everywhere not that I was looking for that I was there mainly for the music. I did see one or two people that I knew there but not many.
Somethings I did notice with a crowd of my age group. There is no plastic pots. We got to drink out of glass all night which is a lot nicer.
The band finished around 11 which I’m used to bands finishing at one or something like that has also changed so I jumped in the car with Rex And headed home and we stopped in at the Killy my favourite Pub in the world to have a beer on the trip home.
The band there had also finished early. It just seems to be the way it is nowadays I don’t know but I was like finishing at one gives everyone more time to celebrate and just dance and let your hair down.
Yeah so at the Pub instead of getting to relax I had to chat with the Internet scammer of the week pretending to be someone else , I am do used to scammers now as I’ve had hundreds of them contact me over the years. This was just another one.
All they want is money your bank card details or a gift card or something like that but in the end of the day they want cash and they will say anything to get it.
It was still going on when I got home when , I sung a few songs to myself karaoke in the kitchen while still chatting to the scammer , as it’s a bit of light entertainment for me and keeps me amused I’m never gonna be sucked in again.
So I might listen to a few tunes this afternoon as a Killy always has Sunday music sessions at lunchtime because I’ve gotta go and have a look at the girls speedboat , about changing the seats in it for them and taking the old ones out and fitting some new ones.
I’m not sure we’ll have to look to see what can be done But I think I’ve organised that for this afternoon so I better have breakfast. Get out do some work on Dylby Roo , then go and relax with friends for the afternoon with some good music.
But I think I better go to see mum first as I have a piece of glass stuck in my left foot , it’s been there for about three days so it’s b time to get the needle out and extract it .
I hope you’re having a really good weekend and if you’re listening to music, I hope it’s good and I hope you enjoy it. That’s it for now.
So everyone for your entertainment and enjoyment I give you Mark Seymour performing the Holy Grail
Enjoy
Cheers xxx
