Recycling tyres

Once thirty years ago I met a man and i was invited into his factory , he was having a go at recycling tyres , he had them going up a conveyer belt to a shredding machine , the problem he encountered was when shredded the product was full of shredded steel from the steel reinforcing belts in the tyres sidewalls.
The next bit impressed me as he had set up a huge electro magnet to use in conjunction with the shredder , that would attract the shards before rotating and dumping the steel shards into a metal recycling bin , theres one part recycled .
I quizzed the man further into what sort of uses that the shredded rubber powder end product could be used for .
His answers were both interesting and practical.
First he said for addition to ceramic tile adhesive as its slightly flexible to save your tiles cracking with movement.
Second he mentioned it could be added to road sealer giving great grip in the wet and dry and fantastic durability leaving road surfaces in good condition if prepared correctly.
I have thought of another one to be used in playground areas as the hardness and softness of the product could be adjusted by the base it’s added to
Anyway it would save lighting up the stockpiles around the world and could only be a bonus to humanity,
I see last week that the Australian environment minister got a huge cash injection for recycling resurveyed and development ,
Hmm
Maybe she should put some of those funds into this
It might just turn into a
Good Year
