Hello everyone
Well sometimes there is a bit of a miracle and i sort of finish off a project,
Last night i was lucky enough to to pick up a ten inch Mapex tom to finish off the drum collection on my outdoor drum kit .
Like the other small tom in the kit ,
it has just slotted In nicely into its place with no mount ,
It just balances itself there and don’t worry i have smacked it hard heaps and if i cant knock it off no one can .
Weirdly It sort of sounds quite like my snare drum
I also scored a few seconds hand cymbals
so i got straight to it dressed in my pajama pants this morning ,
Welding up a new bracket on the bench in the shed out of more just scrap material ,
and copping one hot bit of welding slag on my bare foot,
for my efforts.
So then i did the girl’y thing ,
and I swapped over Cymbals and mixed and matched them from the inside lounge room kit with the outside kit .
I then mounted the first extra cymbal on my newly engineered bracket .
The two cymbals you can see in-the pics i’m going to cut them both into shape cymbals sometime later on and drill some more holes in them .
One is a nice Paiste the other an old English high hat all the way from the mother land
Its a premier brand and its a little rusty ,
and so were the Dees against Freo last week , this week against the Blues they were so much better ,
but back in 91 they were the AFL Premiers and on top of the world.
The wheels fell off there .
So then i did a quick drum count and i got fourteen hittable drums going on and so far there are eighteen cymbals hanging around the drums along with bells , pipe chimes , cowbells and even a pair of old power saw blades hanging up to wack high up on the gantry.
It all actually looks the part ,
but its too bad that i cant really play them .
But i love

smashing them
Unfortunately though I have to have the skins extra tight ,
as i just dent the skins badly if they arn’t tight enough as i hit them pretty darn hard.
As a result of the extra tension,
two of my drums have broken the tension clamp base completely off the drum shell
So Im going to give liquid nails a go at fixing them basically for its simplicity and its overall strength.
I also just thought of a great practice song I usto love and i believe its by the Swingers and its called
Counting the Beat
So i will keep on smashing them anyway timing or not .
It cant actually be that good because at night sometimes when i have a crack at them ,
Rex looks sad at me and he gets off the couch in disgust and just walks off
I just laugh and hit em harder.
Cheers xxx
